Spring and Arjun

It was early spring. Mommy and Arjun wore their jackets and took a walk in the neighborhood.

Arjun looked up at the trees and asked, “No Flowers? No Leaves? Somebody took it?”

Mommy said, “Winter took them.”

Arjun looked up at Mommy and said, “Arjun bring it back.”

Mommy said, “Arjun baby… where will you find flowers and leaves?”

Arjun pointed to his home and said, “Arjun find it.”

Mommy laughed. “Yes… because everything you need is at home. You are a smart cookie but you cannot find everything.”

“Spring will be here in a few weeks. Spring will bring green leaves and colorful flowers.”

“No… No… Spring… Arjun bring it. Mommy can help me”, said Arjun.

Mommy had an idea. “Let’s make leaves and flowers”, said she.

That evening, Mommy and Arjun drew leaves and flowers in many colors. Purple, Pink, Green, Red and Yellow….

“Orange?” Arjun asked hopefully. Orange was his favorite color.

“Yes… especially Orange”, said Mommy handing him the Orange crayon.

They hung up the leaves and flowers on their favorite tree.

“Arjun make leaves and flowers… orange flowers”, said Arjun as he danced around the tree with Mommy. Daddy took a happy picture of his family.

THE END

Note: I wrote this short story more than a year ago when Arjun was 2 years old. His vocabulary has improved by leaps and bounds since then. His curiosity remains at its peak though.

Nice story! I can imagine as it happened. When you talk of colours he now specifically asks for "purple"!!
